One thing about living in Southwest Missouri are all of our options of local farms. We never seem to be too far from berry picking, farm fresh eggs, milk and meat. The area definitely supports farmers and here we have a list of them that keeps growing!
I love, love, love our local coffee shops. You walk in and the smells of those nutty beans that hit you in the face, the art decor and the atmosphere, and the special getaways we can sneak to with our spouse or children. Something about a cup of Joe just makes a sweet time with our friends and family. Below you will find a list of locally owned coffee shops, and local roasters – YES!
“I need a place for the kids to play… and I need a place to talk with other mom’s”. I’ve said it, my friends have said it, and I know every other mom has said it. Parenting is HARD. You can feel like you have lost yourself in this unknown mommyhood, and sometimes just need someone to say “Yes. I also got 4 hours of sleep, finished cold coffee, was kicked by a ninja all night, and ate stale cheerios for breakfast.”
Schermerhorn Park has been a part of Galena, KS, since the 1930’s, and the home of some of the rarest animals in Kansas. The Southeast Kansas Nature Center is a vital part of the park as well.
This park has been in operation for over 60 years, and it’s located right inside Pittsburg, Kansas. I have pictures of myself riding these rides, so it’s pretty surreal watching our children on them.
Friends of ours took a trip and posted these pictures on Facebook. I had to know where they went!

Christmas lights in the Joplin area are plentiful with fun and excitement for children and adults alike. We love the drive-thru light display in Carthage, and Mt. Moriah always catches our eyes {and ears!} as we watch the lights dance to the beat of the music. Taking a stroll down Main street in Joplin and looking into the windows is always sets us up in the Christmas mood, as well.
What a fun tradition for families! Weather you have done this for years, or your first time, memories are to be had. We are excited that we have many tree farms to choose from, with fun activities, hand made crafts, and goodies to purchase.
